Content overview
How content works in Seerly, from a gap in your data through to a published piece.
- start a new draft for a channel
- content Seerly proposes from your own gaps
- everything created, by status
- work in progress
Overview#
Content in Seerly is not a general-purpose writing tool, and treating it as one will disappoint you. It is the other half of the measurement loop: the gaps your data surfaces become briefs, and whatever you publish becomes something the next run can measure.
That distinction does real work. Content generated against a measured gap has a reason to exist that you can articulate to somebody else. Content generated because a tool happened to be available usually does not, and it tends to show.
The loop#
From gap to measured result
- 1
A gap surfaces
Insights → Gap Analysis
A topic where something else is cited in your place
- 2
It becomes a brief
Shaped by what the winning pages share, carried across by Create content
- 3
You draft
Actions → Content → Create
From a suggestion, or from scratch for a channel
- 4
You review and publish
Actions → Content → Drafts
To your site directly, or by export
- 5
The next runs measure it
Insights → Citations
Discovery and indexing span several cycles
what lands reshapes the gaps
Two parts of that diagram deserve more than a box. Brand Hub sits across the drafting stage: voice, positioning and the terms you want included or avoided are applied to every draft, so pieces sound like your brand regardless of who on the team created them. And nothing in the loop publishes itself. Drafts remain drafts until a person decides otherwise, which is a design decision rather than a missing feature.
The lag at the end is worth internalising too. Published work has to be discovered and indexed before anything can cite it, and that spans several analysis cycles rather than several days, so the loop closes on the product's timescale rather than yours.
The life of a piece#
A piece moves through the product as its status changes, and knowing where to look saves the hunt. Work in progress sits in Drafts, and stays recoverable there through the retention rules described in Creating content. Once generated, the piece and its full history live in My Content, filterable by status, and publishing from there sends it to your connected site or hands you the export.
Measuring it afterwards is spread across three screens on purpose, because the three questions are different. Whether the piece is being cited is Citations, and its New Citations view is the earliest signal you will get. Whether it is drawing visitors is Content Performance under Analytics. And whether the gap it targeted actually closed is Gap analysis, which is the question the piece existed to answer.
Best practices#
- Every piece traceable back to a gap. If nobody can say which gap a draft addresses, it probably does not address one.
- Specific rather than broad. A page answering one question concretely gets cited; a page skimming ten questions gives an engine nothing it can lift.
- Published rather than accumulating. Drafts sitting in the queue affect nothing at all, and a full drafts folder is not progress.
Next steps#
- Start from the data rather than the content screen. Open gap analysis or citations first and let them tell you what is missing.
- Read what is being cited instead of you before you generate anything.
- Edit properly. Generated drafts are a starting point, and the specificity that earns citations almost always comes from what you know and a model does not.
- Publish, then wait. Judging impact after a few days measures nothing except your patience.
Limitations#
Generation consumes credits, which are capped by plan. See seerly.app/pricing.
Seerly does not publish on your behalf without you. Every piece is reviewed and approved by a person before it goes anywhere.
