AI Visibility Starter Kit

A short, practical way to find out whether ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Google’s AI answers recommend you — using the questions your buyers actually ask, not your brand name.

Three pages, in order of use

Page 1

10 questions to check your visibility

Fill-in-the-blank prompts covering discovery, customer fit, alternatives, budget, constraints, comparison, compatibility, buying criteria and evidence. Built so you can run them without naming your own brand.

Page 2

Your observation worksheet

Seven fields to record for every question: the exact wording, the tool and date, whether web search was on, whether you were mentioned or merely present, which competitors came up, and the sources the answer cited.

Page 3

What to do with the findings

Three findings you are likely to hit — an unanswered buyer question, an outdated third-party source, a site that is hard to crawl — and the specific next step for each.

Four of the ten questions

Replace the brackets with your own product, buyers and market. Keep your brand name out of them — the point is to see who gets named when nobody is prompted.

  • 01

    Discovery

Which [product or service] would you suggest for [specific need]?

  • 02

    Alternatives

What are alternatives to [competitor] for [use case]?

  • 03

    Constraints

Which [category] options meet [must-have requirement]?

  • 04

    Buying criteria

What should I check before choosing a [product or provider]?

Start with three. Use a fresh conversation for each one and note whether web search was switched on — the same question answers differently with and without it.

After the worksheet

The kit tells you what the assistants say. These tell you whether they can read you at all.

Working through the questions usually turns up the same thing: your site has the answer, but it is not reaching the assistant. Both checks below are free and take about ten seconds each — and unlike the worksheet, they need no judgement calls from you.

Want this tracked instead of checked once?

Seerly runs the buyer questions from this kit on a schedule, across ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Google AI, and tells you when an answer changes — then turns the gaps into the content that closes them.

  • Tracked prompts across the major assistants, re-run on a schedule
  • Alerts when you gain or lose a mention, with the sources that moved
  • Full-site audit, not the single page the free check covers

Questions about this kit

What it covers, what it cannot promise, and what you need an account for.

No. There is no form and no email required — the download link on this page gives you the PDF directly. A free Seerly account is only needed if you want to run the automated checks afterwards.

Start with the ones your buyers use: ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Google’s AI Overviews. Each retrieves differently, so a brand that appears in one may be absent from another. The worksheet has a field for the tool and model precisely because the answers are not interchangeable.

One answer is a snapshot, not a measurement. Re-run the same questions on a regular cadence — monthly is enough for most sites — and keep the wording identical so the results are comparable. Changing the question changes the answer.

No, and be wary of anyone who says otherwise. No checklist can guarantee inclusion in a generated answer. What this does is show you where your site fails to answer a question your buyers are asking, which is the part you control.

It overlaps. Google’s own guidance is that foundational SEO still applies to its AI features, so a site that cannot be crawled or indexed will not be quoted either. What is new is that being retrievable is no longer enough — the answer has to be on the page, in a form that can be lifted out and cited.
